Supporting Acworth Police Department

April 12th, 2024 by

Our team that volunteered to attend yesterday’s surprise squad had the privilege of supporting a Police Department whose culture closely resembles ours and two of their inspiring officers.

Officer Anthony Trapani tracked down a suspect with the help of his K-9 officer. The two of them have only been paired together for a short amount of time but have been able to build a great bond and as a result captured wanted suspect doing a traffic stop.

Officer Severtson is the second officer we celebrated. She responded to an assisted living facility and saved a patient’s life who was choking on food.

Severtson used her personal “LifeVac” device to save the person’s life. Her quick thinking & actions saved the patient’s life.

We gave them each $500 worth of gift cards and a thank you card from our Beaver family.

Both officers were genuinely surprised by the attention they received and expressed that they were simply answering their calling. Officer Trapani moved us to tears when he asked if he could donate his $500.00 gift to Special Olympics, and Officer Severtson mentioned she would use her portion to purchase another LifeVac for the department!

Both officers exhibited humility and gratitude. Its moments like this that make our team feel like they are making a real impact.

Thank you to our amazing volunteers from yesterday – Tony Keels, Daniela Gomez, Carly McAtee, Dylan Storm and Jairo Guevara!
