DARE TO DREAM | THE BEAVER STORY

For any organization, success is dependent on the ability of individuals to work successfully together and the Beaver Toyota family story is no different. Some of it comes from our past achievements, but just as much comes from the company we are right now and where we are going. 
Beaver Toyota ironically began when Mike Beaver purchased his first Chevrolet dealership in Denison, Texas in 1986. He then bought the Chevrolet dealership in Carrollton, Texas in 1988 and another in Lufkin, Texas in 1992.  At that time, Mike had to sell 25 passenger cars and over 120 trucks from one location to be 100% effective.  He quickly realized that if Toyota did to his truck market what it had done to his car market, he would quickly be out of business as a Chevrolet dealer. So, he decided to exit the GM business and focus on acquiring a Toyota dealership, which he accomplished in 2002 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. His Toyota operation became wildly successful and he was fortunate enough to provide quality, long-term employment with relatively high consistent wages to many families in the surrounding area. 
Matt Calavan entered the automobile service industry before joining the Beaver business in 1992, selling Chevrolet, Oldsmobile and Cadillac in Lufkin, Texas.  After proving his skill set as a salesperson, he began climbing the ladder and was promoted to Company Fleet Manager and later to New Car Manager, Used Car Manager, and finally General Sales Manager.  Under Matt’s leadership he built a team that broke all previous sales records and dominated the market area every month until the Beaver dealership sold in 2000. As General Manager of Beaver Toyota of Santa Fe, New Mexico Matt dominated market leadership every month in both passenger cars and light trucks with an impressive market share percentage of over 20% in most years.  
Together, Mike and Matt then purchased the Toyota dealership in St. Augustine, Florida in 2013.

BEAVER COMMUNITY OUTREACH

At Beaver Toyota, dedication to serving others is core to our values. We are deeply committed to our local community and we’ve already donated $100,000 to Forsyth County Schools for their Education Foundation. “We have been loving and supporting teachers and schools for a very long time and we will continue to promote and advocate for school education in Forsyth County as well!” Katie Calavan said. “Not only do we feel a sense of responsibility, but our hearts pour out to the community and we are proud to be able to provide assistance to them, as it’s our family’s way of celebrating the community we share.

Education is a key benevolent choice for Beaver Toyota, but we don’t stop there with many community outreach extensions. 

Our mascot Bucky Beaver visits children hospitals, county fairs and champions school programs. Our “Random Acts of WOW” are highly notable in the Beaver Toyota St. Augustine store and we plan to continue that service model in Cumming, Georgia.
