Performance Capabilities

Performance Capabilities

The 2022 Toyota Tacoma gets approximately 160 horsepower from a 2.7-liter engine. Running on the VVT-i mechanics, this four-cylinder powertrain cranks out 180 pound-feet of torque. Exploiting the VVT-iW for exceptional efficiency, a 3.5-L engine is standard on most trims. Key ratings of this V-6 engine include 278 hp and 265 lb-ft. Compatible with the Atkinson cycle, this six-cylinder powertrain compresses gasoline at 11.8:1. When fitted with this V-6 engine, the Tacoma tows 6,800 gross pounds as stipulated by the SAE J2807 code. When equipped with the i-FORCE MAX powertrain, the 2022 Toyota Tundra can tow up to 12,000 lb. This hybrid system generates a combined output of nearly 440 net horsepower. Augmented by two turbochargers, the hybrid powerhouse twists slightly over 580 lb-ft. A 36-kW electric motor and 288-V Nickel-Metal Hydride battery supplements the twin-turbo engine under the hood of this full-size Toyota pickup truck. Most trims run on the i-FORCE engine that produces 348 hp or 389 hp depending on the trim. This internal combustion engine delivers 405 lb-ft or 479 lb-ft based on the badge. Creating ten different gear ratios, an automatic transmission is standard on this premium Toyota truck. Likewise, the Tacoma’s auto gearbox offers six shifting points. This midsize model is also available with a six-speed manual transmission. Both Toyota trucks offer the 4WDemand system with part-time capabilities and an active transfer case. Additionally, these versatile vehicles have the Automatic Limited-Slip Differential for superb off-road traction.
