This efficient powertrain includes a twin-turbocharged V-6 engine block that burns unleaded gasoline. A powerful motor/generator syncs the turbo engine with a 10-speed automatic transmission system. The all-new hybrid system yields a combined torque output of slightly more than 580 pound-feet. This full-size Toyota SUV is also potent enough to tow 9,000 pounds based on SAE J2807 rules.
Delivering 295 hp, a 3.5-L engine propels the Toyota Highlander. This six-cylinder, naturally aspirated powerhouse develops just over 260 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission system with the Direct-Shift branding is paired with the V-6 engine. Such a configuration enables a towing capacity of up to 5,000 lb. The hybrid powertrain features a 2.5-L gas engine and delivers a net output of 243 hp. The hybrid system is synced with an electronically controlled CVT for efficient shifting points. You can buy the Highlander with an AWD system that exploits the Dynamic Torque Vectoring technology. When running on a hybrid system, this midsize model includes the Electronic AWD.
Similarly, the 2023 Sequoia offers a part-time 4WD system and transfer case. This large Toyota SUV features the Adaptive Variable Suspension and provides a balanced and pleasant ride. Additionally, an air suspension with the Load-Leveling Rear Height Control aligns the trailer with the chassis.
