Performance Capabilities
The 2023 Toyota Sequoia harnesses approximately 440 net horsepower from a hybrid powertrain that claims the patented i-FORCE MAX technology. A twin-turbocharged, six-cylinder engine block is one of the main components of the all-new, parallel-style hybrid system. A 36-kW electric motor is another important part of the electrified engine. All electricity is stored inside the 288-V, sealed Ni-MH battery pack. This full-size Toyota SUV extracts just over 580 pound-feet of torque from the versatile hybrid powerhouse. For its efficient design, the 2023 Toyota Sequoia boasts a stunning towing rating of just over 9,500 net pounds. Regardless of the powertrain configuration, the 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe can’t match such a trailering capability. Producing 420 hp, the 6.2-L engine is the most potent option under the hood of this full-size Chevy SUV. Rated at 460 lb-ft, this V-8 powertrain is significantly weaker than the Toyota model’s hybrid system. An upgrade to the diesel Duramax engine won’t increase the torque production for the 2023 Tahoe. In fact, this Chevy SUV has a standard 5.3-L engine that stands no chance against the i-FORCE MAX engine.
Handling
A 10-speed automatic transmission system propels the 2023 Toyota Sequoia on any surface. You’ll get advanced mechanical technologies on this gearbox, such as the Uphill/Downhill Shift Logic. You won’t find such sophisticated features on the 2023 Chevy Tahoe’s 10-speed transmission. Both three-row SUVs offer the traditional Tow-Haul Mode. You can even turn on the class-exclusive Tow+ Mode for the Toyota model. In fact, this large SUV has the segment-exclusive Sport S and Sport S+ settings for spirited driving on the highway. Equipped with a standard rear-wheel drive and the Automatic Limited-Slip Differential, the 2023 Sequoia gets a good grip on various surfaces. This full-size model is available with the part-time 4WDemand system for better off-road performance. By contrast, the 2023 Chevy Tahoe has a standard limited-slip differential with mechanical controls. Some other technologies that help the 2023 Sequoia in the handling category include the Bilstein shocks and Adaptive Variable Suspension.
Technology Features
The 2023 Toyota Sequoia is available with a 14-inch touchscreen, which is one of the largest displays in the segment. In clear contrast, the 2023 Tahoe’s largest monitor measures just over 10 inches wide. However, this full-size Chevy SUV offers a 12-inch digital instrument cluster. In fact, the Toyota model has a 12.3-inch instrument cluster with digital gauges. Measuring 10 inches, a head-up display is optional for this premium Toyota SUV. Some other advanced visual technologies inside this all-new model include the Digital Rearview Mirror and Panoramic View Monitor. The 2023 Tahoe’s HD Surround Vision also offers good visual cues in some situations.
