Performance Features
Engineered to run on regular unleaded fuel, a 2.5-liter engine block moves the 2022 Toyota Sienna. The latest D-4S Injection mechanism forces gasoline into this four-cylinder powertrain. Managed by the Dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) technology, the 16 DOHC valves move up and down with incredible precision. Two permanent magnet synchronous electric motors directly propel the vehicle’s front wheels. Three total motors control the mechanics of the optional Electronic On-Demand all-wheel drive on this versatile Toyota minivan. All motors harness electrical power stored by the sealed Nickel-Metal Hydride battery pack. Unfortunately, the 2022 Honda Odyssey only comes standard with an FWD system. A 10-speed automatic transmission system links the vehicle’s 3.5-L engine with the front driveline. According to the EPA, this Honda minivan delivers up to 28 mpg on the highway. Thanks to a hybrid powertrain, the Toyota minivan beats the EPA-verified fuel economy by up to 8 mpg on the highway. Such best-in-class fuel economy is achieved thanks to input from the Electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission, Eco Mode and EV Mode. A sport-tuned suspension system is another installation that gives the Toyota minivan an advantage in handling over the competition. Both three-row vehicles are strong enough to haul a trailer that’s loaded with 3,500 pounds as determined by the SAE J2807.
Amenities
The 2022 Toyota Sienna flaunts an automatic climate control system with four total zones. This best-in-class HVAC unit is linked to electronic control panels in the first and second rows. The 2022 Honda Odyssey has an automatic HVAC system with only three zones. Both minivans offer ventilated and heated seats in the front row. These climate-controlled, power-adjustable seats are available with real leather trimming. You could also select heated first-row seats with the SofTex finish for the Toyota model. Sunshades are available for the second and third rows of both family-friendly vehicles. You could buy the 2022 Sienna with leather-appointed captain’s chairs, which accommodate two adults in the middle row. The Odyssey includes the Magic Slide seats for up to three people in the second row.
Technology Features
A 9.0-inch touch screen is standard inside the 2022 Toyota Sienna base trim. In shocking contrast, the 2022 Honda Odyssey base model has an LCD monitor that measures just 5.0 inches diagonally. Higher-level trims come with an 8.0-inch touch screen. Both minivans enable mobile connections via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. However, the HondaLink suite has fewer features than the Toyota Connected Services. In terms of guidance, the Dynamic Navigation beats the Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation. Additionally, the Toyota minivan offers a dozen speakers from the JBL company. An 11-speaker audio system is installed only on the high-end Odyssey Elite model.
