Powertrain Features
Built on the legendary Dynamic Force foundation, a 2.5-liter engine powers the 2022 Toyota RAV4. This four-cylinder powertrain generates up to 203 net horsepower. When rotating at 5,000 RPM, the I-4 engine delivers 184 pound-feet of peak torque. This light-duty Toyota crossover SUV has a standard towing capacity of 1,500 pounds. Also displaying the Dynamic Force branding, the 2022 RAV4 Prime’s 2.5-L engine is rated at 177 hp and 165 lb-ft. When pushed to peak levels, the hybrid powertrain produces a combined output of 302 hp. It takes this hybrid crossover SUV only 5.7 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph. The Electronic Throttle Control System with intelligence technology optimizes the car’s impressive acceleration on paved surfaces. Electronic fuel injection is another technology that pushes the hybrid powertrain to the limit. When fully charged, the Toyota RAV4 Prime offers a 42-mile driving range. Depending on its configuration, the RAV4 has an EPA-estimated fuel economy of up to 35 mpg on the highway.
Handling
Available on the 2022 Toyota RAV4, the Dynamic Torque Vectoring AWD improves handling on slippery roads. The Rear Driveline Disconnect technology controls the torque split in the TV-AWD system. When maximum efficiency is desired, all torque will be diverted to the front wheels. The TV-AWD is coupled with the DirectShift automatic transmission system, making a total of eight gear speeds. Creating smooth-shifting patterns, the Electronically Controlled Continuously Variable Transmission propels the 2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime. All power flows from the ECVT system to the Electronic On-Demand AWD system. Both compact Toyota crossover SUVs offer the AWD Integrated Management (AIM) technology for superb handling. These versatile family cars also provide the exclusive Trail Mode that boosts off-road handling. Engineered for tackling rough landscapes, the Multi-Terrain Select (M-TS) is available on the RAV4. An illuminated electronic dial engages the Rock & Dirt and Sand & Mud modes. You could also select the Sport Mode for each Toyota vehicle. Additionally, the RAV4 Prime could run on the EV, HV, and several other energy-conserving modes.
Technology Features
The Audio Plus system features a 9-inch touch screen and is available for the 2022 Toyota RAV4 and RAV4 Prime. This updated infotainment center includes the Toyota+Alexa, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto applications. Both Toyota crossover SUVs offer advanced connectivity through Connected Services. For example, you could manage the Remote Connect app on a linked smartphone. Occupying 7 inches in the instrument cluster, the Multi-Information Display is available for each vehicle. You’ll get additional visual cues on the Digital Rearview Mirror, which comes with the integrated HomeLink technology. Projecting key data on the driver’s windshield, a head-up display is optional on the RAV4 Prime.
