Hybrid Electric Models
Toyota Hybrid Electric & Electrified Vehicle Lineup
If you’ve ever thought of making the switch to owning and driving a hybrid or any type of electric vehicle, you aren’t alone. You’re probably seeing more and more of them on the roads because there are several great reasons to consider a hybrid electric, plug-in hybrid electric, or fuel cell electric vehicle.
Did you know that the first gasoline/electric hybrid was introduced in 1917? Naturally, it wasn’t very practical or viable at the time. But then came 1997 and the introduction of the Toyota Prius. That’s right, Toyota practically wrote the book on hybrid vehicles over 20 years ago!
Today, driving a hybrid is very similar to driving a conventional automatic car in terms of power and performance. That’s because a hybrid is different from a 100% electric car. Hybrids have and use two motors, one gasoline and another that runs on a battery. In some conditions like congested traffic, a hybrid will likely switch over to run on electricity. But when you’re rolling down the highway, you’ll be running on the gasoline engine. The result is just the right power for conditions, much higher fuel efficiency, and less CO2 output. No wonder people are switching!
As for some common concerns about hybrid vehicles, range per charge, finding charging stations, and the time it takes to charge are not an issue. Hybrids charge their own batteries, so you don’t need to plug in or find a charging station. That said, Toyota does have electric hybrid plug-in models that bring additional enormous advantages. The Department of Energy says the United States currently has nearly 43,000 public EV charging stations and around 120,000 charging ports, with more being added all the time.
So let’s take a look at the hybrid choices your Toyota dealership has to offer.
